Two-Day Collage Workshop with Susan Lucas

Students may take one or two days.
Monday, October 12 and  Tuesday, October 13
At Bayou Arts Center
9 am till 3 pm. Bring a brown bag lunch.
Cost: $60 members/$65 "not yet" members

For two days, we will explore "pure collage" - art made entirely of pasted-down papers, not as part of a painting.

No "art" skills are required: we'll take found and prepared papers, cut or tear them up into smaller pieces, and glue them down. Examples of 'found' papers are pages from magazines and children's books, maps, outer wrappings of candy bars and other food packaging, gift wrap and ribbon, copies of photos and documents, sheet music, newspapers, tissue paper. Prepared papers will be made by painting on various art papers, such as rice paper and watercolor papers.

Bits of papers can be made into artwork in limitless ways. We will create numerous small collages each day, using different approaches.

Collage is a no-fail, low-stress medium, and lots of fun. It's a great way for beginning artists to create, while more advanced artists can explore design and concept ideas.

Susan Lucas is an experienced art instructor and professional artist. Images of her collages (and more information about her) are at susanlucasart.com.
